Mauricio Sulaimán has served as President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), the historic governing body of boxing worldwide, representing 170 affiliated countries, since February 12, 2014.

As President of the WBC, Mauricio has continued the legacy of his late father, José Sulaimán, by protecting the health and well-being of boxers at all costs through the implementation of numerous initiatives and programs, including the Clean Boxing Program (anti-doping regulations for the sport of boxing), the Weight Management Program for boxers, the José Sulaimán Boxers Fund, efforts promoting equality and inclusion in boxing, and the creation of a fund for brain injury research with University of California, Los Angeles, among many others.

He was honored with Mexico's 2020 National Sports Award for his career-long commitment to promoting sports. He has also been recognized as a speaker at prestigious forums, including the United Nations headquarters, the The White House Oval Office, and the Holy See, among others, where he has been received by distinguished leaders and dignitaries from around the world.

He actively participates in numerous social initiatives as an ambassador for the Special Olympics movement, a member of the Advisory Council of Save the Dream, the International Centre for Sport Security, the School of Sports Sciences, the Feet First educational program, and many other organizations, always demonstrating the passion and commitment to service that he inherited from Don José Sulaimán.

In 2016, he received the distinguished appointment from Pope Francis to create and implement the Boxeo con Valores (BOXVAL) program, which supports the development of young people and children around the world through the values of sport, particularly boxing.

Mauricio is devoted to his family, including his wife, Christiane Manzur Zairick, and his children, José, Valeria, and Mauricio.
